These photos recently appeared on Tumblr. We have no idea where they originate. But what a beautiful boy he was.

Hi! This photo is great! Alwaysnew about him make us happy! I send a link about the movie “Loyalties” (1933). Recently the Ealing Studios released a volumen where there are some movies… included it… just “Loyalties”… I would like to see it! But regrettably I live very far, so is complicated to me buy it. Basil was perfect in this little clip! 🙂
    Kisses!

(Sorry for my English… I speak Spanish)

Has anyone ordered “Loyalties” etc. from this service, Moviemail.com? It sounds like a marvelous source of old Brit films (I love Alistair Sim), and the photos look very crisp…but how about the sound? The version I bought locally online is unintelligible. Great work on “Command to Love” reviews–wish he’d filmed it.

You guys are prob’ly gonna KILL me for this……while I was visiting my mom yesterday, we went shopping at a local thrift store in her neighborhood—there was a large, glossy headshot photo of Errol Flynn with some slight scratch-marks, for only $1.50—I DIDN’T BUY IT! 😮

    Why NOT, you might ask?

Well, I’m not a huge ‘fan’ of EF, and it wasn’t an expensive item, anyway; the original barcode/price sticker from when it was new, read $3.50.

Now, if it had been a photo of Basil, Vincent Price, Fred Astaire or somebody like that, than HECK YES I would’ve bought it!! 😉

I found an Errol Flynn DVD boxset in a BHS store once under new releases. Think they made a bit of a mistake there….😂

Was Weedys neice EVER in the movies? I found her as a secretary. In Tex. Sad that Jr. never did get to be in Movies xecpt those 2 parts in Baz. flicks. Hewas good and he was handsome and he did continue in theater, so he must have had acting in his blood.Pity all that was waisted “flying the friendly skys”.

Yeh, curious that OB of all people would be the name by mistake on the photos, so was wondering about the niece Ouida and whether she also got into the hanging-around aspect of the acting game while staying with the BRs and whether she also had the name Bergere. The one with the long curly dark hair has just the odd spacy look you’d expect on someone related to OB, gotta say.
BR as a gorgeous young chap at Repton–would bet it’s cricket (how many men to a side in cricket or rugby?) and since they are obviously not sitting alphabetically, wonder if he is a captain, or co-captain with the fellow next to him? Don’t call that poor white-sweatered guy a dork, please, ladies—think of the strain that builds up when waiting for a photo to be taken in those days, and when you probably hate having your pic taken to start with! Even Bazz has been caught in those awkward moments!
Now to “Loyalties”: I have found a copy of it, or perhaps a mother-lode of them. Thought it was impossible to find. Tried the source mentioned on this site and since it was Canada and over $25, googled the website, only to find a lot of complaints, so tried another source and received it for $8. It seems complete but blurry, and the sound track is almost impossible, but right in the beginning is a printed comment that it had been restored from even a worse state, so beggers can’t be choosers. Might help to read the play first and wear earphones. If it is okay to do so, I can reply with the email of the person who is selling it on DVD.
Lovely to see this site back in stride; a warm spot in this winter weather!

I KNOW, right? Not only does the white sweater kid look a bit ‘dorky’, but also as if he were taken by surprise….as though he was thinking: “Huh??”. Back in those days, a photograph was a WELL planned-out event, that took a good amount of time to prepare for. Hmmm……curious.

Also, those other boys aren’t even HALF as attractive as Basil. He looks almost like a modern kid—I’ll bet he’d be playing with his Smart Phone & video games + own a laptop & a tablet, if he were here today! 😉

I wonder which sport his team was dressed for in this photo….perhaps football (soccer), or maybe cricket? They’re wearing cleats, so those are my guesses.

It’s Rugby. He played rugby . Cricket is a totally dif uniform.usualy whie flannel trews and a striped jacket. Nor does it require cleats. At least what pro matches I’ve watched didn’t wear cleats.Odd they not one of them has a ball? Yearbook photos now have the ball or golfclubs or what ever?

    G R E A T * PHOTO!!! 😀

Basil was such a CUTE kid, with a wonderfully good heart….and he grew into a handsome, loving young man, who carried these traits with him throughout the rest of his life.

Looking at this picture, I can just imagine him at school running, kicking a ball across a field; swinging a bat or racket—he really LOVED playing sports. I’ll bet he was ADORABLE in a hoodie, sweatpants and sneakers; and even more-so in a tank-top and shorts! 😉

Breathtaking. He must have been such a heartbreaker! I don’t have any idea where the picture comes from Neve, but I think I have seen it before quite recently. Racking my brain to remember where.

  10. I’m speechless frankly. But both of us at the Baz are also curious to know where this amazing pic came from. Can anyone elucidate? 🙂

Absolutely STUNNING. What a young star he could have been in today’s movies/TV or as an advertising model. PLEASE find more somehow!! By the way, went into eBay for a change yesterday and on a whim searched for Ouida. A group of photos showed up and some show a rather ethereal type (long dark hair) who looks not at all like OB, but one of the women in the photos is supposedly her and the second one definitely isn’t her. With Edward G. Robinson and others, I think they were. Undated. Did her niece go by the same last name and could she possibly be the one in the photos??
