The Anniversary of Basil’s Death

No, it’s not something to celebrate, but we definitely want to remember the Great Baz. He died on July 21, 1967, at the age of 75. The following day, the New York Times printed an article that covered the highlights of Rathbone’s life. Below the photo is a link to the PDF of that article. Look for more posts on The Baz soon!

    “What place——is THIS??” 😮
(as Baz a.k.a. ‘Mr. Black’ would say)

If I’d seen this page before, I would’ve posted Basil’s special tribute comment HERE.
How come I didn’t notice it on the homepage? Hmmm……silly me.

THANK YOU Marcia, for doing this! High-Five!! 🙂
We’ve all been waiting SOOO LONG for something new.

So, the mysterious question everyone wants answered now, is:
What EVER happened to Catte & Neve???
    Just wonderin’.

My recent B-Day + Memorial to Basil comments can be found on—you GUESSED it—the good old ‘Hollywood Tours of 1937’ page!! 😉

AND “THE BAZ” LIVES ON—sort-of. HOORAY!!! 😀

  2. Thank you so much for the post, Marcia! I got a great Baz fix watching TCM all day on Baz’s birthday. I’m definitely looking forward to future posts. I know I’m not the only who’s missed The Baz!

You’re welcome! I also enjoyed the Basil-fest on TCM June 13! I’ve been meaning to write to TCM and thank the person in charge of programming for showing all the Baz films . . . but I haven’t done it yet!

    Oh, Bazzers…
Thanks for helping me through so much, and introducing to me to so many great people, and most of all making me so happy and adding the extra sparkle in my day to day life! It’s hard to imagine what my life would be like had my parents never introduced me to the Sherlock series when I was younger….16 years old now and looking forward to being your fan (but not a miku fan, oh God anything but that…) for a lot, lot longer!
    RIP Ratty!
