    His face in the Levasseur gif. Hypnotically beautiful. I have been trying to figure out what he is saying. Does anyone know.

    Some lovely photos posted of our hero.That formal shot in a suit w/tache is gorgeous,as the one w/Baz & Rodion with dogs and wearing suits,they both look so comfy together,as it should’ve been.Still think he should’ve set limits w/OR when it came to his own family.

    THANK YOU Neve, for the movie-offering! I’ve seen pretty-much EVERY Baz-film ever made, except some of the ’30s romance-ones, a few of which I was able to find a week or two ago on YOUTUBE. The two I DIDN’T find— “Confession” and “Kind Lady”, were ones I’ve probably NOT seen before, or if I HAVE, it was most likely back in the ’80s or ’90s, on AMC. (My family and I watched that channel a LOT…until they started playing COMMERCIALS during the films, as well as showing COLORIZED movies, BOTH of which they used to SWEAR they’d never do!)

    I’ve seen “The Magic Sword”, “The Adventures of Robin Hood”, and the Sherlock Holmes movies at LEAST 25 times each, and I OWN them all on video— except for SOME Holmes films, which I’ve found on YOUTUBE. I ALSO have DVDs of: “Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet” (Which came on a “sci-fi classics” 50-movie-pack from Wal-Mart for only 9 BUCKS!), and “Heartbeat” (from my dad’s 50-movie-pack of old Hollywood films). I’d LIKE to get DVDs of: “The Court Jester” (my ALL-TIME FAVE Baz/Danny Kaye movie), “Queen of Blood” (which I only saw ONCE on YOUTUBE, and it was quite a BAD copy), ALL the 1930s romance/suspense films, “The Mark of Zorro” (with the BEST sword-fighting scene EVER filmed in HISTORY…and, the SEXIEST!!)— and the CORN-BALL “Hillbillys in a Haunted House”, and “Ghost in the Invisible Bikini” (hey, they’re GOOFY, but still somewhat fun to watch!).

    For ANYONE interested, you can find SEVERAL different 50-movie-packs at Wal-Mart right NOW, for $9…they range from “drive-in classics” to “horror classics”, to “classic TV series'”. I got two “sci-fi” packs, and one “drive-in” pack, because they mostly contained movies I’d NEVER seen, or ones I’ve ALWAYS wanted; like the Baz-film, and the Vincent Price movie “The Bat”. These SAME movie-packs were previously available through various mail-order catalogues for $20, so I’m sure GLAD I waited to purchase them until NOW!! For Baz-fans— last year, Wal-Mart had a DVD of 6 Sherlock Holmes movies starring Basil, PLUS 39 episodes of the ’50s S.H. TV series as a bonus…with Sir Christopher Lee narrating the video, in the $5 BIN! But, I can no-longer find it ANYWHERE, so if you’re LUCKY, maybe some of you still can. πŸ™‚

      I live in the UK, no movie-packs for me ;_;.
      I often search HMV, Tesco, charity shops for Basil movies but so far no luck ;_;.
      (But I did find a magazine with that beautiful bazzy boy in a junk shop once, so I can’t really complain ;u;

    • After hearing repeatedly from readers and friends that the dark design was lovely but impossible to read/navigate and after slowly coming to the realization that the blog has become more weighty and literary than originally planned I’ve bitten the bullet and gone for a look that emphasises readability. I miss the dark look, and if I can find a dark design that is also as clear and navigable as this one then I’ll jump at it, but right now – this it TheNew Baz :). I won;t be switching again for a while as it takes ages to re-format some of the posts and I’m still doing that. This is also much easier on MY eyes as well as the readers – and that’s no small thing given the number of times in a day I come here to approve comments, junk spam and generally admin things πŸ™‚

      Having said that, the first email I opened this morning was from a reader saying “Oh no, where is your lovely dark background?”

      I was sad 😦

    Happy birthday to Basil. I didn’t think much of the selection of films on TCM I vote for some of his rarer classics next year!. Why did you change the beautiful colors? So classy. You still have your lovely basil-banner though I see πŸ™‚

    RATS!!! 😦
    It’s still June 13 where I live, and only mid-evening, but TCM played ALL Baz’s movies 3 HOURS ahead of my time-zone, so now all they have on for the REST of the night is an ESTHER WILLIAMS marathon!! And, I didn’t tune-in until AFTER they’d played the last of Basil’s films, so I MISSED-OUT on the ENTIRE thing…BOO-HOO! I don’t have TIVO or a DVR, either. I was REALLY looking-forward to watching his movies today, but I would’ve had to start at 3:45 AM! When they had “The Court Jester” on last month, I waited ALL DAY to see it, only to find-out it was OVER already, because of the stupid time-zone…at LEAST I didn’t miss “The Adventures of Robin Hood”!! πŸ™‚

    • Awww Gretchen that’s sad. If you wanna tell me about any films of his you haven’t seen I might be able to help. I have a ton of his films on my Macbook and I plan on uploading the public domain ones on Youtube when I get a moment. So I can easily add one to 4shared for you.

        Just imagining Baz himself,if he were alive today,using today’s tech to communicate with his loving fans.If his family is looking on the blog,we wish we had the chance to know him,or know him better,as we’re sure you do ,too,if things had been different.We sincerely love you all!
